Joint New Year Message of Peace from the Moderator and the Cardinal
In an innovative Scottish first, Cardinal Keith O'Brien, President of the Bishops' Conference of Scotland and Rt. Rev Alan MacDonald,Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland have issued a joint New Year message. In the message, the two senior Christian leaders make a plea to MP's to "make a stand for the principles of peace" and "refuse to endorse a replacement for Trident", they also admit to being ashamed of Scotland's "inheritance of sectarianism and violence".
