Vatican Information Services

The Vatican Information Service is a news service, founded in the Holy See Press Office, that provides information about the Magisterium and the pastoral activities of the Holy Father and the Roman Curia.

The service – which began in 1991 – transmits news from Monday through Friday throughout the year, except during the month of August. It is available in English, Italian, Spanish, and French.

Each service consists primarily of pontifical acts and nominations, a summary of the Holy Father’s homilies and speeches, presentations and communications concerning pontifical documents and dicasteries of the Holy See, activities of the Congregations, Pontifical Councils, Synods, etc, and official statements issued by the Holy See Press Office.

VIS is sent to subscribers every day at 3 p.m. (Rome time) so that information is made available before its transmission by the media.

In accordance with international regulations on Intellectual Property and Author’s Rights, prior authorization is necessary to reproduce the VIS service, partially or in its entirety, or in the case of electronic re-transmission. In addition, it is always necessary to cite the source (VIS – Vatican Information Service). To obtain permission, as well as to make comments or suggestions, you may write to vis@pressva-vis.va.
