Bishop Murray welcomes new Episcopal Bishop of Argyll and the Isles

the Scottish Episcopal Church announced last week that Canon Martin Shaw has been elected as the new Bishop of Argyll and the Isles in the Scottish Episcopal Church at a meeting of the Electoral Synod in Oban. He will succeed the Rt Rev Douglas Cameron who retired as Bishop of Argyll and the Isles at the end of October last year.  Martin Shaw is presently Precentor (in charge of Cathedral music and choral services) and Residentiary Canon of the Cathedral of Edmundsbury, Ipswich.  On hearing the news, the Catholic Bishop of Argyll and the Isles, Bishop Ian Murray said:  "I have just learned of the election of Canon Martin Shaw as the new Episcopal Bishop of Ar...

...Tuesday 2 July 2019   the Catholic Church in Scotland will welcome five more candidates into the priesthood in July.   Deacons Mark O’Donnell, Kevin Lawrie and Kieran Hamilton will be ordained for the Diocese of Motherwell; Deacon William McQuillan will be ordained for the ArchDiocese of St andrews and Edinburgh; and Deacon Ronald Campbell will be ordained for the Diocese of Argyll and the Isles.   Six of Scotland’s eight Dioceses will receive men into the priesthood in 2019, bringing the total number of ordinations this year to ten.   Commenting on the news, Bishop John Keenan, President of Priests for Scotland said:   “I am delighted that...
