The Episcopal Ordination of Fr William Nolan as the new Bishop of Galloway will take place at the Grand Hall, Kilmarnock on Saturday 14 February 2015 at 11am. Fr. Nolan was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Galloway in November 2014 by Pope Francis and will be ordained at the ceremony in Kilmarnock on 14 February, by Archbishop Leo Cushley, Archbishop of St. Andrews & Edinburgh. Pope Francis has today (Saturday 22 November 2014) appointed Fr. William Nolan, as Bishop of Galloway. Fr. Nolan is currently parish priest of Our Lady of Lourdes, East Kilbride and Vicar General of the Diocese of Motherwell. Churchmen to join Vikings at Shetland fire festival

Two senior Scottish churchmen are traveling to Shetland this weekend to take part in the 'Up Helly Aa' Viking fire festival.The Most Rev Mario Conti, the new Roman Catholic Archbishop-Elect of Glasgow, will be joining The Most Rev Bruce Cameron, the 'Primus' or head of the Scottish Episcopal Church, at the celebrations.It will be Archbishop-Elect Conti's first major public appearance since the Pope appointed him to the key Glasgow post earlier this month.It is also thought to be the first time that leading figures from both churches have been invited to attend the traditional event.Both men will be welcomed by chief Viking the 'Guizer Jarl' at a reception in She...

Saturday 4 June 2011   At 12 noon today in Rome (11am GMT) it was announced, that Pope Benedict XVI had nominated Abbot Hugh Gilbert as the new Bishop of the Diocese of Aberdeen.   He will succeed Bishop Peter Moran who has been Bishop since 2003.
