Cardinal stresses continuity at opening mass of new school. Speaking at the opening mass of St. David's Secondary School in Dalkeith this evening (14 November), Cardinal Keith Patrick O'Brien delivered the following address: "On this occasion I think back some 40 years ago when my predecessor as Archbishop, Cardinal Gordon Joseph Gray, blessed and dedicated the buildings of the then new St David s Secondary School here in Dalkeith in 1967. Bishop John Keenan, Bishop of Paisley, will be the principal celebrant and homilist at the Funeral mass for his predecessor Bishop John Mone (Bishop of Paisley, 1988-2004) in St.Mirin’s Cathedral Paisley. In his message sent to all of Scotland's 500 parishes for the 42nd World Communications Day, Bishop Philip Tartaglia President of the National Communications Commission of the Bishops' Conference of Scotland claims "a fundamental disconnection between the provider and the consumer" has occurred in the media. The letter which will be read at all masses on Sunday, 4 May 2008 suggests that "mass communications can fairly be charged with losing the ethical underpinning that once existed". The funeral mass for Eilidh MacLeod, will take place at 11.15am today (Monday 5 June 2017) in the church of Our Lady, Star of the Sea, Castlebay, Barra. Parish Priest, Fr John Paul MacKinnon will celebrate the mass which will also be relayed to mourners in nearby Castlebay Hall.
In his introduction, Fr. MacKinnon will say:
“My dear brothers and sisters- today we come together here on our beautiful island of Barra as a family, as “one big family”, to pray as a family for our dear beautiful Eilidh MacLeod. “Mercy Bus” redefines “mass” transit.

A Scottish bishop will celebrate mass on a double-decker bus, for the first time in the UK, in Paisley next week. The special bus will set off on its opening tour from the cenotaph at Paisley Cross at 1pm on Monday 31 July 2017.
The bus tour is the brainchild of the ‘Friends of Divine Mercy Scotland’, speaking ahead of the launch, organiser Helen Border said:
