Bishop Murray to visit Scots College in Spain

Following the decision by the Bishops' Conference of Scotland to review the  future use of the Royal Scots College in Salamanca, Bishop Ian Murray will  this week travel to Spain to meet the students and staff there.  Before leaving Bishop Murray said; "As the last rector of the Scots College  in Valladolid and a former rector of the College in Salamanca, I identify  closely with our staff and seminarians in Spain."  The Bishop's visit is intended to convey the thinking on seminaries of the  Scottish Bishops, clarify the future uses to which the college may be put  and make arrangements for the future study plans of the students.  Bishop Murray added; "...

Scotland's Catholic Bishops meet the Pope

The Bishops of Scotland as part of their "Ad Limina" (five yearly) visit to Rome, this morning enjoyed a private audience with Pope John Paul II. The audience followed a Mass in the Pope's private chapel, which the Bishops concelebrated with the Pope. Also present were 11 seminarians as well as the rector and staff of the Scots College in Rome.In his address to the Pope, Archbishop Keith O'Brien, President of the Bishops' Conference of Scotland said;"your Holiness, our first thought as the Bishops of Scotland is to thank you for your twenty-five years of service as Pope and to indicate to you that we look forward to the celebrations which will take place in Rome...

The Episcopal Ordination of Fr William Nolan as the new Bishop of Galloway will take place at the Grand Hall, Kilmarnock on Saturday 14 February 2015 at 11am. Fr.
