APOSTLESHIP OF THE SEA TO BE 'RELAUNCHED'  At their meeting at Scotus College in Glasgow last week (8 November) the  Bishops Conference of Scotland agreed to undertake a dramatic overhaul of  the chaplaincy services provided to seafarers. At present in Scotland the  Apostleship of the Sea which is part of the commission for Social Care  undertakes little active mission work. A Stella Maris club in Glasgow is  no longer used by seafarers serving instead retired personnel. Cardinal O'Brien welcomes new Apostolic Nuncio.  The President of the Bishops' Conference of Scotland, Cardinal Keith  O'Brien, has welcomed on behalf of the Bishops of Scotland the appointment  by Pope John Paul II of His Excellency Archbishop Faustino Sainz Munoz as  Apostolic Nuncio to Great Britain.  Archbishop Sainz was born in Spain in 1937 and ordained in 1964. He has a  doctorate in Canon Law and has served in the diplomatic service of the Holy  See since 1970. His various postings have included Senegal, Scandinavia,  Cuba, Zaire, and latterly he was Apostolic Pro-nuncio to the European Union  in Brussels, a position he has held since 1999. Arch...

Michelle McManus sings on the 16th for Benedict XVI  The Catholic Church in Scotland has confirmed that Michelle McManus, TV and pop star, will perform before the PapalMass on 16 September at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow.The performance will be a family affair with Michelle singing ˜Home , a song composed by her 22-year-old cousin, Michael Brady, who is studying music in Glasgow and lives on Skye.
